About Me

Art as a Way of Remembering

My name is Kata Rudakova, and I am a Ukrainian contemporary artist currently living and creating in Bucharest, Romania. Art has always been more than a profession for me — it has been a language of emotion, memory, healing, and personal truth.

I was born and raised in Ukraine, surrounded by a culture rich in history, emotion, tradition, and artistic spirit. From an early age, I was drawn to colors, textures, and visual storytelling. Painting became the most honest way for me to express thoughts and emotions that words could never fully capture.

Over the years, my artistic style evolved naturally through personal experiences, travel, observation, and emotional transformation. My work combines contemporary expression with emotional depth, often exploring themes such as identity, displacement, resilience, memory, femininity, silence, and hope.

Four years ago, my life changed dramatically when the war forced me to leave Ukraine and rebuild my life in Romania. Like many others, I experienced uncertainty, loss, distance from home, and the emotional weight of starting over in a new country. During this difficult transition, art became not only my passion, but also my refuge.

Today, living in Bucharest has opened a new chapter in both my life and creative journey. The contrast between past and present, between memory and adaptation, deeply influences my paintings. Through my work, I try to capture emotions that are often difficult to describe — nostalgia, strength, vulnerability, fear, beauty, survival, and inner transformation.

My paintings are not created simply to decorate a wall. Each piece carries a story, an atmosphere, or a fragment of emotion. Some works are expressive and intense, while others are quiet and reflective. I believe art should make people feel something personal, even if every viewer experiences it differently.

I am inspired by human emotion, urban life, nature, old architecture, silence, music, movement, and the imperfect beauty of real life. I often work with layered textures, symbolic elements, and contrasting tones to create depth and emotional tension within each composition.

As an artist, I do not try to create perfection. I try to create honesty.

My goal is to build a connection between the artwork and the viewer — a moment where someone stops, looks deeper, and feels understood through color, texture, and form.

Through this website, I invite you into my world: a collection of memories, emotions, experiences, and stories transformed into art.
